Links Between "The Perrils of Idifference" and "The Lottery"

In "The Perrils of Indifference", as he talks about when all those events in Germany such as all the people being forced into concentration camps were happening the people that were suffering because of these acts of violence and hate believed that only they knew about what was going on and that if only they could find a way to get the word out to others from different countries that someone would step into the picture and stop what was happening. In truth everyone knew about what was happening in Germany, as nobody did anything to prevent any of this just goes on to prove that we as normal people can be a part in an act of violence with no meaning at all what so ever. This is the same as in the short story "The Lottery" , where they all seem to be decently normal people in the flesh and then out of nowhere everybody turns on the one person who was chosen by the lottery and start pelting rocks and pebbles at them. You start to realize that everyone has a part in violence and most choose to abide by it or just pretend to not notice it when being witness to violence everyday, from kids teasing others all the way down the list to muggings or random acts of violence such as terrorism. Even the Government promotes violence with all the wars happening everywhere. This all just goes to show that we as people can be violent not only individuals that can be recognized but every single person out there.
