novel synthesis

Between the novel "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and text "Another Brick in the Wall Part 2", I've made the connection where both institutions are trying to conform their patients/students. Using the quotes " teachers leave them kids alone!" and "we don't need no thought control." from the text we can make the connection to the novel where the nurse and her aides are trying to control the way their patients act and make them do what they are told from the narrators perspective. In the novel the big nurse brainwashes her patients into believing they have to do what they are told in order to make progress in fitting into society more comfortably and to make an earlier release. The quote "If you don't eat yer meat, you can't have any pudding." is a great example from the text "Another Brick in the Wall" because it's a figure of speech meaning the same thing as do what you are told and you shall be rewarded sort of method, therefore connecting to the novel furthermore. As you get farther into the novel you can relate it to the text more as the nurse uses methods such as rationing their cigarettes and threatening to put patients up on the "disturbed" ward if they're so much as to act out of line. McMurphy can be connected to the narrator of the text as he is the one person in the novel who tries to convince the patients that they are just as normal or weird as the next person here and there when he realizes that almost everybody is voluntarily admitted to the institution and let themselves become a "robot" who's every move is controlled by the big nurse.
